Dirt Dogs Theatre Co., in association with Don’t Bet Against Us LLC, presents "The Boundary", a new play by Doug Williams and Donna McKenzie.

A successful romance novelist sees her comfortable but stagnant marriage thrown into confusion when her first (and only) great love unexpectedly returns after more than 20 years. He’s now a domestic terrorist, wanted by the FBI for targeting corporate America, and he needs her help for what will be his boldest – and likely final – act of violence. She’ll have to decide whether to draw a line between the two of them in order to preserve her marriage…or take a chance and cross a line to rediscover her long-lost passion. But with her husband’s life potentially in the balance, she may have no choice.

Performances March 25-27 and March 31 – April 2 at MATCH

Auditions will be 1/30 & 1/31 from 3pm-6pm at MATCH (3400 Main Street), by appointment only in 15 minute blocks, and consist of cold readings from the script.

To schedule an appointment, please email info@DirtDogsTheatre.org and include your name, phone number, and preferred day if you have one.

All actors will receive a stipend.

Characters:
FRANK CHASE: 40s, affable, buttoned-down, a smart corporate crisis manager who’s clueless about the crisis in his marriage. But he can go steely, and isn’t afraid to take on powerful people when he thinks they’re wrong.

CHRISTIAN ROBB: 40s a political activist wanted by the FBI and the first (and maybe only) pure love of Samantha Chase, the play’s central character. He can be charismatic in one moment, explosive in another, sensual in a third, smoldering all the time. His passion makes him extremely dangerous – and extremely desirable.

MAX RATCHETT: 50s, corporate CEO, blustery, a legend in his own mind, a deep believer in his own righteousness – and to his way of thinking, he’s never wrong. He’s an ex-Marine who is used to owning everything and everyone around him.

SECRETARY: Max Ratchett’s gatekeeper, 30s, lots of attitude, a talk-talk-talker. There’s not much of a filter between what she thinks and what she says. Longs for love.

AGENT WHITE: 30s/40s, African-American female. No nonsense, no sense of humor, a believer in the power of government to interrupt – even destroy – people’s lives and has no problem leveraging that power to her (and the government’s) ambitions.

AGENT BLACK: 20s/30s/40s, white male. Straight-arrow, shares the idea that government can and should do whatever is necessary to preserve the idea of patriotism – though his idea of patriotism, like that of White, is extreme bordering on twisted. Agent White’s foil and gofer.

ARCHER SEBASTION: 50s/60s/70s, a cable television book reviewer. An unrepentant, self-absorbed snob who sees himself as someone bigger and more important than the authors he interviews – but who knows, deep down, he can’t do what they do.

GAME SHOW HOST: 30s/40s, right out of the 1970s. Smarmy, glib, oily, oozes with an obnoxious and sometimes edgy charm. The kind of guy who cracks himself up and leaves everyone else shaking their heads.

BAR PATRON: 30s/40s, a traveling businessman who looks to add a notch to his bedpost in every city he passes through.

FIRST WOMAN READER: 40s, trapped in a joyless if not necessarily bad marriage, wishing for a new beginning.

SECOND WOMAN READER: 30s, desperate for love, in a marriage defined by material things, hoping that one day she’ll have a chance to replace her designer clothes (and husband) with one true love.

NOTE: Bar Patron and Game Show Host or Agent Black may be double cast; Secretary, Woman Readers, and/or Agent White may be double cast.
