Shadows On Oak Island by Garnet Hirst & Deborah Preeper

Haunted by the loss of their son, an affluent Toronto couple, Rene and Jackson, retreat to the island to save their crumbling marriage. Wally, a chatty local and guardian of the island helps them adjust to their new home. Rene is desperate to solve the mystery of the island as Jackson numbs his grief with alcohol. She is convinced the treasure (The Holy Grail) will reunite them with their son. Wally, a self-professed expert on Oak Island agrees to help Rene in her quest. Wally, obsessed with finding the treasure since boyhood, at first sees Rene as a means to achieving his goal. Quickly, his obsession shifts to Rene and he appoints himself as her protector.

Oak Island initially welcomes Rene and Jackson, and then appears to be conspiring against them. Tensions heighten as truths about Matthew's abduction, the treasure, and Wally are revealed.

On November 16 – 17, 2015, Houston Grand Opera will hold auditions for actors for the supporting roles of “The Starkeeper/Dr. Seldon” and “Mr. Bascombe” in a production of the classic musical CAROUSEL to be staged during HGO’s 2015-16 season. CAROUSEL will be directed by Tony and Emmy Award-winning director/choreographer Rob Ashford.

Auditioning actors should appear at least 55 years old or older.

The Starkeeper/Dr. Seldon has a warm but frank grandfatherly presence. He has experienced much over the years and is able to convey the long-range perspective on life.

Mr. Bascombe is a no-nonsense businessman with an air of unquestioned authority and an ability to take care of himself and his property.

All interested candidates should have availability to be called up to 30 hours per week during the rehearsal period of March 21 – April 21, 2016 and for performances as follows: April 22, 24m, 27, 29, 30, May 4, 6, and 7, 2016. Actors engaged for these roles can expect to earn $1,300 US per week for the 7-week production period.

Auditions will be scheduled to take place on Monday, November 16 and/or Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston.

Please e-mail to register for an audition.
