Sunday, November 8 at 2.00 pm Monday, November 9 at 7.30 pm LOCATION Theatre Suburbia 4106 Way Out West Dr., Ste N Houston, TX 77092 SHOW Shadows On Oak Island by Garnet Hirst & Deborah Preeper Haunted by the loss of their son, an affluent Toronto couple, Rene and Jackson, retreat to the island to save their crumbling marriage. Wally, a chatty local and guardian of the island helps them adjust to their new home. Rene is desperate to solve the mystery of the island as Jackson numbs his grief with alcohol. She is convinced the treasure (The Holy Grail) will reunite them with their son. Wally, a self-professed expert on Oak Island agrees to help Rene in her quest. Wally, obsessed with finding the treasure since boyhood, at first sees Rene as a means to achieving his goal. Quickly, his obsession shifts to Rene and he appoints himself as her protector. Oak Island initially welcomes Rene and Jackson, and then appears to be conspiring against them. Tensions heighten as truths about Matthew's abduction, the treasure, and Wally are revealed. DIRECTOR Lindsay Smith ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Akia McPhaul REHEARSALS November 11, 2015 - January 7, 2016 7:30 pm weeknights PERFORMANCES January 8 to February 6, 2016 Fridays & Saturdays at 8:30pm Sundays, January 24 & 31 at 3:00 pm CHARACTERS 2 M (30s-60s) and 1 F (30s-40s) Jackson- 30's-40's Reeling from the loss of his son, Jackson is a sarcastic alcholic and artist who loves his wife, but is on the verge of a mental break. Rene- 30's-40's Grief stricken and in denial about the truth of her sons disappearance. She is quick to anger and is obsessed with finding the Holy Grail and bringing her son back to life. Wally- 50's-60's The islands guardian, Wally has been searching for the Holy Grail since he was a boy. He is what most people would call a "bumpkin" and develops a fierce obsession with Rene. The Nutcracker
the Legend of the Sugarplum FAIRY Adapted from the original story by josh jordan Music by josh jordan The Mouse Queen sits depressed & alone within the kingdom of Wall. Drosselmeyer the toymaker wants revenge for his imprisoned father! Prince Peppermint from the Land of Sweets is too cool to be aware of any danger but luckily for him the Sugarplum Fairy has the perfect magic spell to set things right! Gingerbread crumbs fall all over the floor in this new adaptation of the classic story & ballet. Set to a disco soundtrack & staged as a choreo-dance piece, this will quickly become your new holiday favorite! Read (f, 10+) - the leader of the army the Mouse Queen (f, 13+) - a disgruntled royal rodent Major Mouse (m or f, 8+) - leader of mouse army Gingerbread Soldiers (m or f, 7+) - fight for the Land of Sweets Mouse Soldiers (m or f, 7+) - fight for the Queen Mouse Prince Peppermint/the Nutcracker - ruler of the Land of Sweets Clara Stahlbaum (f, 10+) - product of a spell by Sugarplum Fairy the Mintskys (m or f, 6+) - from the Land of Mint - Speara, Kool, & Double the Cocoans (m or f, 6+) - from the Land of Cocoa - Pebble, Puff, Krispy the Gummys (m or f, 6+) - from the Land of Gummy - Citrus, Berry, & Cola The Sugarplum Fairy's Attendants Jelly Tot (f, 10-18) - a magical fairy Lemon Drop (f, 10-18) - a magical fairy Gum Drop (f, 10-18) - a magical fairy Butterscotch (f, 10-18) - a magical fairy * The Attendants manipulate Sugarplum Fairy's skirt EVERY character has singing & rhythmic verse parts. SOME actors will play multiple characters within the story.
