Island ETC is pleased to announce auditions for their upcoming production of Neil Simon’s Barefoot In the Park. Auditions will be held on Sunday and Monday, August 1st and 2nd at 7:00pm at Island ETC, 2317 Mechanic Street, Galveston. Callbacks, if needed, will be Wednesday, August 4th at 7:00pm.

Barefoot In the Park is one of Neil Simon’s most beloved comedies. The plot centers on newlyweds, Paul and Corie Bratter, who seem to be complete opposites. Paul is a hard-working, very practical, young attorney while Corie is a naïve free spirit. After six days of marriage, they move into their fifth floor walk-up apartment and are immediately visited by Corie’s widowed, lonely mother. When Corie decides to play matchmaker with her mother and her very unusual and eccentric neighbor, everything, of course, goes wrong!

Mrs. Banks Corie’s Mother; late forties; has ‘let herself go’
Victor Velasco 58; flirty; eccentric; full of ‘joie de vivre’
Telephone Repair Man mid-30’s; dry sense of humor
Delivery Man 60’s; this is a very tough job for him

All roles are available. All actors will be paid a stipend. There are some funds available for commuting expenses.

Actors are asked to bring headshots and up-to-date resumes. Auditions will consist of readings from the script.

Barefoot in the Park will be directed by Kim Mytelka. The stage manager is Matt Poole. Rehearsals will be Sunday through Thursday evenings from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Rehearsals will begin on Monday, August 16th. Performances are September 17 – October 9. Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8:00 and Sunday afternoons at 2:30.
