UpStage Lands Regional Premiere of "Judy Garland, World's Greatest Entertainer"
February 8 - 23, 2008
In a push to move to new territory within the framework of Family Entertainment, UpStage Theatre is presenting two musical productions never before seen in the Houston area. Opening Feb. 8 and running for three weekends will be "Judy Garland, World's Greatest Entertainer". This original show was written by Greer Firestone author of "Gershwin by George" and other nationally produced shows...
and is published by Best of Broadway Productions. The show is loosely based on the television show from the 1950's and early 60's, This Is Your Life.
Judy (portrayed by Kristin Clark) will be joined on stage by Frank Sinatra (played by Luke Wrobel), Liza Minnelli (played by Adrienne Foster) and Dean Martin (played by Mark Thibodeaux) for an evening of song.
UpStage Theatre was founded in 2000 and is now in its 8th season of providing family entertainment. The 2007 - 2008 Season is filled with three wonderful shows for young audiences: "Santa's Magic Timepiece", "Pinocchio", and "The Reluctant Dragon" and four fabulous productions for the rest of us: "The Pink Panther Strikes Again", "Judy Garland, World's Greatest Entertainer", "Rumors", and another Regional Premiere: "Gilligan's Island, the Musical".
UpStage moved into its new home at Lambert Hall, 1703 Heights last season and shares the venue with Opera in the Heights.
