Alley Theatre Introduces a New Pre-Show Mixer, Pages & Stages. Pre-Show Mixers ActOUT and Mix & Mingle return for the 2008-2009 SeasonAlley Theatre is pleased to announce a new pre-curtain event, Pages & Stages. Pages & Stages is the perfect evening for the book worm in every theatre buff. Alley Theatre has partnered with the Houston Public Library to create this new pre-curtain event that combines the imagination of the written word with the excitement of live theatre...
Patrons read a book that has been specially selected to complement each Hubbard Stage production, then can participate in preliminary group and web discussions led by guests from the Houston Public Library. On specific evenings, readers will attend a performance and enjoy a pre-curtain discussion group led by special guests from the Houston area.
For Cyrano de Bergerac, the selected book is Restorationby Rose Tremain. Titles for the rest of the 2008-2009 Pages & Stages events will be announced at a later date. Light refreshments are served. After the performance, readers can stay for an additional Talk Back led by Alley cast members and artistic staff.
After a highly successful fourth season - which included a rockin' evening in honor of Love, Janis and a Parisian-themed party for the world premiere of The Gershwins' An American in Paris - Alley Theatre ActOUT, a pre-show mixer for gay and lesbian theatre fans, heads into its fifth season with a variety of events and productions that will once again have Houston's GLBT community talking. ActOUT attendees enjoy fabulous pre-performance mixers with music, socializing and complimentary cocktails and appetizers, all with a spectacular view from high above downtown Houston. The party keeps going with a production from the Tony Award-winning Alley Theatre. For the 2008-2009 season, ActOUT is once again collaborating with local charitable and cultural organizations. Specific organizations for each event will be announced at a later date. 2008-2009 ActOUT Community Partners include Budweiser/Silver Eagle Distributors and Picazo Restaurant Bar & Grill.
Alley Theatre also offers an exciting night of great theatre and new friends with the pre-show mixer, Mix & Mingle. Mix & Mingle is a mixer for singles, couples and groups who love the theatre and want to meet others who enjoy attending performances of Hubbard Stage productions. The mixers - held at a variety of downtown restaurants - encourage like-minded theatergoers to congregate and enjoy Alley productions together. Past season events were held at Birraporetti's, Hard Rock Cafe, and Hunan Downtown, among others. The first Mix & Mingle event of the 2008-2009 season will be held at The Dive Lounge at the Downtown Aquarium on October 9. Locations for the rest of the 2008-2009 Mix & Mingle events will be announced at a later date.
