Cyrano de Bergerac opens the 2008-2009 Seasonat Alley Theatre. The soulful poet/philosopher and dazzling swordsman Cyrano, falls for the lovely Roxane, but ashamed of his large nose, Cyrano is unable to woo her. Instead, when he learns that Roxane loves the handsome but inarticulate Christian, Cyrano writes love letters to Roxane on Christian's behalf. She falls deeply in love with the author of the letters, unaware that Cyrano penned them. The adventure/romance is one of the greatest plays of world theatre. Recommended for general audiences...

The cast of Cyrano de Bergerac includes Jeffrey Bean as Cyrano de Bergerac, Elizabeth Heflin as Roxane, John Tyson as Ragueneau, James Black as Le Bret, Todd Waite as De Guiche, Justin Doran as Christian and Josie de Guzman as The Duenna in a cast of 25.

Cyrano de Bergerac, An Heroic Comedy by Edmond Rostand, adaptation by Brian Hooker and directed by Gregory Boyd begins Friday, October 8 (Note New Date) and runs through Sunday, November 2 on the Hubbard Stage.

The cast of Cyrano de Bergerac features Alley Theatre Resident Company Actors Jeffrey Bean as Cyrano de Bergerac, James Belcher as Ligniere, James Black as Le Bret, Elizabeth Bunch as The Orange Girl, Justin Doran as Christian, Bettye Fitzpatrick as Mother Marguerite, Elizabeth Heflin as Roxane, Paul Hope as Montfleury, Chris Hutchison as Valvert, Philip Lehl as Marquis 2,Emily Neves as Sister Claire, Melissa Pritchett as Lise, David Rainey as Cuigy, John Tyson as Ragueneau, and Todd Waite as De Guiche.

The design team of Cyrano de Bergerac includes Scenic Design by Hugh Landwehr (Alley's Journey's End, Arsenic and Old Lace, Doubt, Witness for the Prosecution), Costume Design by Alejo Vietti (Alley's Agatha Christie's The Unexpected Guest, Othello, The Scene), Lighting Design by Rui Rita (Alley's A Christmas Carol, To Kill a Mockingbird, Black Comedy), Music Composition and Sound Design by Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (Alley's Twelfth Night, Topdog Underdog, Sherlock Holmes), Fight Direction by Brian Byrnes (Alley's Othello, The Pillowman , Deathtrap) and Dramaturg Mark Bly (Alley Theatre Senior Dramaturg and Director of New Play Development).
