A Classic Love Story With A New Twist to Take Stage Door Inc By Storm!

Two women love the same man. Sound familiar? The classic love triangle is common material for stage and screen.

With conflicting feelings of love, loyalty, betrayal and jealousy, the plot creates undulating tensions that are essential in a good theater going experience.

This love triangle is set in the land of pyramids and pharaohs - ancient Egypt. Elton John And Tim Rice’s AIDA lands onstage at Stage Door Inc. located at 284 Pasadena Town Square Mall in Pasadena, Texas, on February 19th and runs weekends through March 14th.

Winner of four Tony Awards, including best original score, “AIDA is not opera. It's truly a pop musical with spoken dialogue and all kinds of recognizable song types: urban-based rhythm and blues, gospel-inspired songs, ballads and, of course, Crocodile Rock songs," said Elton John in a press release.

Based on the classic Giuseppe Verdi opera, Elton John and Tim Rice's "AIDA," is a contemporary musical rendition of a classic tale, a story of the love between a soldier and an enslaved princess—a love that condemns them both to death, but ultimately transcends the vast cultural differences between their two warring nations, heralding an unprecedented time of peace and prosperity. As Radames, captain of the Egyptian guard, returns from a successful war campaign, he gives a slave, Aida, as a gift to his fiancé, the princess Amneris. Unknown to the soldier, Aida is actually the princess of Nubia, and her presence in the Egyptian court allows Radames to fall in love with her. The ensuing love triangle ultimately forces him and both princesses to make difficult, irreversible choices.

Taking on the title role of Aida and making her Stage Door debut is Decrita Howard. Filling out the other parts of the story’s love triangle are Monica Marcha as the Egyptian princess, Amneris, and Brian Chambers as Radames, the captain of the Egyptian guard. Other noteables in cast include Justin Nicholson as Zoser, the evil and sadistic Chief Minister of Egypt and father of Radames, Bryan Sanchez as the Pharaoh of Egypt, Harrison Spiller as Mereb, A young Nubian slave and servant to Radames, and Yasmin Khan as Nehebka, a Nubian slave and friend of Aida. They will be joined on stage by Bryan Burleigh, Benjamin Alvarado, Brandi Brown, Briana Alvarado, Consuelo Suarez, Marisela Orozco, Megan Foster, Niara Pelton, Sydney Graham, Rebecca Glover, Christy Benson.

AIDA’s pop-rock music, exotic costumes, and conflicted love story will come together under the capable direction of Stage Door Inc. Executive Director Marc Anthony Glover, Musical Director Elizabeth Taylor, and Choreographer LaShic Patterson. With all technical aspects being overlooked by Technical Director Dario Failla.

Aida opens on February 19th and runs thru March 14th for 4 weekends. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 pm, with matinees Sunday at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors & students.
