Regional Premiere of Naomi Iizuka’s Anon(ymous)

August 5 - 7, 2010

Aside Productions is proud to present the Texas Regional premiere of Naomi Iizuka’s Anon(ymous). Anon(ymous) follows the story of our hero, Anon, on his search to find his long lost mother, Nemasani. Anon must traverse through the United States encountering a wide variety of people – some dangerous, some kind, some cruel – as he searches for his family...

From a sinister one-eyed butcher to beguiling barflies to a sweatshop, Anon must navigate through a chaotic, ever-changing landscape in this entrancing adaptation of Homer's Odyssey.

Directed by James Canfield, an upcoming senior at Saint Louis University and founding member of Aside Productions, this will be the statewide premiere of Anon(ymous). “We are extremely excited to be presenting this new work and even more excited to be the first theatre company in all of Texas to be performing this beautiful and powerful play,” says Canfield.

Anon(ymous) will feature Cody Due, an upcoming sophomore at Oklahoma University, and Jessica Canfield, an upcoming sophomore at Saint Louis University, as Anon and Nemasani, respectively. The all star cast will also include performances by Cecily Breaux (a junior at The Woodlands High School) as Naja, the ocean goddess who guides Anon; Shelby Escamilla (a recent student at Lonestar Community College), as Ritu, a curry shop cook; Charlotte Byrd (a sophomore at Webster University in St. Louis), as Mr. Zyclo, a one-eyed butcher who has a taste for human; and Vic Shuttee (a senior at The Woodlands High School) as the evil Mr. Yuri Mackus, a sweatshop owner.

Aside Productions is a local theatre company for high school students, college students, and recent college graduates in The Woodlands, Texas, and its surrounding areas. Aside Productions’ goal is to present a process in which thought provoking, original theatre can be produced, performed and displayed for the surrounding community and also encourage the growth and development of theatre for all involved.

Anon(ymous) will perform August 5th, 6th, and 7th at 7:30 PM in the McCullough Junior High Black Box Theatre located at 3800 Panther Creek Drive, The Woodlands, TX. Admission is $10. To find out more information on Aside Productions please visit our website: http://asideproductions.org.
