TO PERFORM AT IMPROV MARATHON IN NEW YORK

Vagabondage Improv Comedy Troupe has been selected to participate in the Upright Citizens Brigade Annual Del Close Improv Marathon in New York from Friday, July 30 to August 1st.

The marathon is named for Del Close, the driving force behind
improvisational comedy in Chicago for over 30 years, influencing Bill Murry, Tina Fey, Mike Meyers, John Belushi, Chris Farley and the Upright Citizens Brigade to name a few...

... After Dell’s passing in 1999, the UCB started the Improv Marathon to celebrate their mentor and keep alive his name and teachings for future generations. Under the terms of his will, Dell was cremated – however, he left his skull in the care of the Goodman Theatre, to be used as Yorick’s skull in future productions of Hamlet.

Held at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre] in New York, the event begins Friday at 5pm and lasts straight through until Sunday midnight. This year’s marathon will feature well over 100 groups from New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, North Carolina, Boston,Toronto,Houston, St. Louis and Salt Lake City. (http://www.delclosemarathon.com)

Tohelp fund their travel and raise money for lodgings in New York, Vagabondage Improv Comedy Troupe announces the 3rd Annual Pajama Jam. In improv terms, a “Jam” is audience participation at its ultimate.

During the show, the players will demonstrate an improv game, and then audience members will be invited to play. As “Pajama” suggests, all performers and the audience are decked out in their bedtime best. Based on experience from prior pajama parties thrown by the troupe, “Fuzzy slippers are the norm, but occasional negligee’s do show up.”

The Pajama Jam, a 4-hour mini-marathon of improv comedy, features both short-form and long-form flavors delivered up with the astonishing mental, physical and emotional dexterity for which Vagabondage is best known. The night will include a live game show, the “BLANK GAME”, modeled after Gene Rayburn’s 1970’s game show of similar name. The BLANK GAME features celebrity guests sitting in on our celebrity panel and contestants chosen directly from of the audience to compete for prizes.

The 3rd Annual Pajama Jam will be
Saturday, July 24th and will be held
at Defensive Driving of Houston located in Chelsea Market (next door to Main Street Theatre), 4617 Montrose Blvd.
