National Celebrity TC Carson is Coming to Houston

| The Ensemble Theatre jazzes up for its season finale musical ‘Five Guys Named Moe,’ starring actor TC Carson with an opening night and media reception Thursday, June 24, 2010, 6:30PM at 3535 Main St, Houston, TX 77002.
“We are appreciative of Director Choreographer Patdro Harris for using his circle of influence to help bring about this exciting opportunity to mix a broad spectrum of talent and experience on The Ensemble’s stage,†says Artistic Director Eileen. J. Morris.
Actor TC Carson is most widely known for his role as ‘Kyle Barker’ during his five year stint on the FOX Television sitcom “Living Single.’ Some viewers may remember a few episodes where Carson’s vocal talents were part of the banter between his character ‘Kyle’ and love interest ‘Maxine Shaw’ played by Erika Alexander. Although his career is rooted in musical theatre, people tend to identify with him as an actor before realizing he his also a singer. Carson has been performing nationally to sold-out houses and rave reviews with his jazz and r&b vocals.
“I am a vocalist who happens to be an actor,†says Carson.
Some of Houston’s own talent will be featured singing alongside Carson. Audiences will see Ensemble veteran actors Anthony Boggess-Glover, Tommie Harper, and Carlton Leake, who were last seen in The Ensemble’s production of “The Wiz.†Actors Chioke Coreathers and Donald Collier will be making their debut on The Ensemble Theatre’s stage.

Terrence TC Carson was born and raised in Chicago, where he studied architecture and fine arts at the University of Illinois before moving to Los Angeles. His acting career started in dramatic and musical theater where he performed on stage and musicals such as "Hair", "Colored Museum", "The Wiz", "Dreamgirls", "Ain’t Misbehavin’", "Gospel at Colonus" and "Once on this Island".
He has developed a long list of film and television credits including the military thriller “U-571†with Mathew McConaughey also, the cult favorites “Final Destination 2†and “Livin’ Large.†He was nominated for two NAACP Image awards for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series as a result of his debonair and charismatic Kyle Barker on the Fox Television series "Living Single". The show continues to run in syndication in Europe, Australia and in the US.
Carson’s voice can be heard in a number of diverse settings. He has been a sought after artist for voiceovers. From the roles of Mailman Carson, Fire Chief Campbell and Samuel on the family friendly TV series "Clifford the Big Red Dog" to the voice of Mace Windu in the sci-fi video game "Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith", "Star Wars: The Clone Wars", and the voice of God in "The God Of War" video game series.

The Ensemble Theatre was founded in 1976 by the late George Hawkins to preserve African American artistic expression and to enlighten, entertain, and enrich a diverse community. The theatre is known as the only professional theatre in its region dedicated to the production of works portraying the African American experience. In addition to being the oldest and largest professional African American theatre in the Southwest, it also holds the distinction of being one of the nation's largest African American theatres that owns and operates its facility with an in-house production team. Board President Emeritus Audrey Lawson led the capital campaign for The Ensemble’s $4.5 million building renovations that concluded in 1997.
