| Each year Stages Repertory Theatre chooses a production from its MainStage season and surrounds it with activities designed to create a larger context for a particular play or theatre artist’s work.
This year’s Surround focuses on The Mineola Twins by Paula Vogel, the world premiere of Late: A Cowboy Song by Sarah Ruhl, and the work of women playwrights.

The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize is the most prestigious accolade offered to women writing plays in the English language. How has it supported women in the field of playwriting? And how do the judges decide which play is best?
Emilie S. Kilgore, who founded the prize in 1978 in honor of her sister, is joined by playwright Lanford Wilson,who has served on the judging committee. Together they will talk about the significance of the award and what it takes to get one.
