island etc (east-end theatre company) is pleased to announce its fourth season. etc is Galveston's only professional resident theatrical company...

The 2005~2006 Season Includes:

Based upon the screenplay “MEN” by Doris Dorrie

October 11 – November 4, 2005

Tom has been cheating on his wife Lucy for several years (with a number of women.) Lucy is cheating on her husband Tom (with Sebastian). Tom moves out on Lucy and, in disguise, moves in with Sebastian. These are the circumstances that set the mood of hilarious intrigue in this often moving but always light-hearted musical about men.

December 2 – December 18, 2005

Sarah and Charlie run a small theatre that’s presenting “A Christmas Carol” – that is until Charlie shows up backstage to say that the cast and crew are snowed out. With a full audience waiting patiently for the performance to begin, Sarah insists that “the show must go on!” She talks Charlie into playing Scrooge while she plays everyone else. Through the lightning-fast costume changes, crazy antics, and laughter, somehow Dickens’ message of the true meaning of Christmas spirit still comes through.

Full of warmth, wisdom, and uproarious good humor, the circumstances end happily as the four go to bed – in the right combinations.

In a small town dime store in West Texas, the Disciples of James Dean gather for their twentieth reunion. They were all teenagers when Dean filmed Giant nearby. One, an extra in the film, has a child she says was conceived by Dean on the set. The ladies reminiscences mingle with flash backs to their youth; then the arrival of a stunning and momentarily unrecognized woman sets off a series of confrontations that upset their self deceptions and expose their well hidden disappointment.

Herb, a Hollywood scriptwriter, is having a dry run and his confidence is shaken. He takes consolation in his off and on relationship with Steffy, a movie makeup woman. Without warning his teenage daughter, Libby, shows up on his doorstep demanding that Herb get her into the ‘pictures.’ This extremely funny story of a father/daughter relationship is a wonderful blend of hilarity, honesty, and sincere emotion.

It’s the summer of 1776, and the nation is ready to declare independence…if only our founding fathers can agree to do it! This popular and award winning musical follows John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, and Richard Henry Lee and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia as they attempt to convince the members of the Second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence.
