As of August 1, 2006, Reba Kochersperger will no longer serve as General Director of Opera in the Heights. The office of General Director has been replaced by “Managing Director”. Opera in the Heights has seen the need as it expands, to create the office of a Managing Director...
The office of Managing Director will control all business aspects of the company. Artistic Directorship will continue under the present Artistic director. This will give added compass and latitude to both the Managing and Artistic Director.

The office of Managing Director will come under the leadership of Mr. Royston Charles Hughes. Mr. Hughes brings to Opera in the Heights, and this position, both prestige and a prodigious and extensive background in business from both the U.S. Government and the private sector. As a former United States Ass’t Secretary of the Interior for program development and budget, a Vice President of Schlumberger and Enron Corporations, Mr. Hughes will contribute greatly in advancing Opera in the Heights. His experience in development, financial strategies, human resource issues in addition to serving on the boards of the HoustonMuseum of Fine arts and the Houston Pops Orchestra make him the ideal individual to carry forth the companies strategies.

"We are looking forward to your getting to know Mr. Hughes and working with him in the future," William M. Weibel Artistic Director of Opera in the Heights.
