Nova Arts Project's Thom Pain

Nova Arts Project's Thom Pain (based on nothing) is Something Special:

A stark, dark stage.

A man, Thom Pain, enters.

He tries to light a cigarette.

He tries again, unsuccessfully.

..
He reads some definitions from a crumpled piece of paper in the dark.

The lights come up.

Now go f_ck yourselves.

You know who I suddenly don't need?

Anyone.

A guy gets up from the front row
and walks out in disgust.

Thom Pain chases him down the side aisle, screaming at him,

"Au revoir, C_NT!"

Isn't it wonderful how we never recover?

(Love it. This is one big fat mind f_ck.)

Feel whatever you like, it's your life!

We had some bad laughs. Bad teeth too.

...like you, in terrible pain, trying to make sense of your life.

I am a feeling thing in a wordy body.

Nature laughs last.

Deep into the night.

At you...

(His voice is so mellifluous and compelling that he gets away with talking to us
about nothing
or
anything.)

Remember how little time there is.

There was.

Fear.

Nothing to be afraid of.

(Poetic. Graphic. Real. Surreal.)

Please be someone waiting.

Isn't it great to be alive?

Thom Pain (based on nothing)
is a 45 minute soliloquy from the soul of handsome, heady actor Sean Patrick Judge.

(Peculiarly hilarious.)

(Divine diversion.)

(Cognitive contemplation.)

(Great live theatre, reasonably priced.)

(Would rather be here than
at any crappy movie now playing.)

(There may be a raffle.)

Thom Pain (based on nothing) by Will Eno runs until July 3 at 8 p.m.

Re: Nova Arts Project's Thom Pain
I began reading this review.

Then I took a pill.

With a martini.

I continued to read.

(The pill kicked in.)

I woke up several hours later.

"Did I read this already?" I asked myself.

(Outloud.)

"Did I see this show?" I asked myself.

(Outloud.)

"Yes." Said a husky voice.

(Kathleen Turner.)

Then I took another pill.

Isn't it great to be alive?
