BREAKDOWN: All characters are funny in a smart way. They are people who watch 30 Rock, not Two and a Half Men. All actors need to be able to handle comedy and drama, often in the same beat. Derek: Late 20s-mid 30s. Has a kindness and openness to him. He's the bridge for the family. Ryan: 30s. He is funny and quick. He's bright and his energy is infectious. He is gay. His humor is an easy part of him. He's funny, not !$!y. John: late 30s-early 40s. He is the most serious and conservative of the brothers but he's still funny and quick. Mom: late 50s- 60s she is at all times able to keep up with her sons. It is obvious they come from her. She is tired in that way that people who are always right are tired.
