Based on the book Edith Head’s Hollywood by Edith Head and Paddy Calistro this behind-the–scenes feast of great movie lore and delicious stories provides great insight into Hollywood’s legendary costume designer Edith Head.
In her six decades of costume design, she worked on 1,131 motion pictures, dressed the greatest stars of Hollywood, received thirty-five Academy Award nominations and won an unprecedented eight Oscars. Hear Ms. Head who was the original make over artist tell her own story, which is fascinating as the history of the film industry itself. A story filled with humor, frustration and above all glamour. At the start of a typical day in the Northeast Office, Beverly deals effortlessly with ringing phones and her colleague's romantic troubles. But the appearance of a charming rep from the Central Office disrupts the friendly routine. And as the true nature of the company's business becomes apparent, The Receptionist raises disquieting, provocative questions about the consequences of complicity with evil. TLH is pleased to present the Regional Premiere of one of the theater’s current hot playwrights – Adam Bock, winner of the 2007 Obie Award for his play The Thugs. This spring Playwrights Horizon presented the world premiere of his latest play The Drunken City. The Receptionist received its world premiere at the Manhattan Theater Club In October 2007.
