Applause students, parents, board and staff have worked hard to achieve high standards of excellence in both operations and performances. Thus, a unique opportunity exists for the selected candidate to take a committed organization to its highest potential level.

Responsibilities of the Producing Artistic Director include:

•Responsible for all artistic areas of the organization including complete responsibility for the selection and production of plays, workshops and classes for the season
•Willing to personally direct a minimum of two Broadway productions per year
•Willingness and ability to coordinate/teach acting classes and workshops, including writing/editing scripts for workshops
•Supervisor for theater manager; responsible for theater manager’s execution of job duties
•Working with the board to develop organizational vision and growth management
•Participate in fundraising and promotional activities
•Non-voting board member, required to attend board meetings

Skill requirements:
•Charismatic interpersonal skills are mandatory for dealing with active volunteer/parent organization and community patrons, fund raising and board
•Ability to inspire youth
•Highest professional and ethical standards in conducting duties
•Basic computer and office skills

Preferred background and training:

•Bachelor of Fine Arts or Master of Fine Arts
•Minimum three years theater experience
•Theater training in all aspects of producing
•Experience working with youth is required
•Some musical theater background is preferred
•Familiarity with non-profit sector

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
